Why it is Crucial to your Business to be Present on Social Media

When you started your photography business, I bet you didn’t think you’d be an accountant, a marketing wizard, and a content creator. There are so many hats to wear as a small business owner, and it’s easy for some of those hats to fall in the cracks! However, I’m here with five reasons why your social media should never be a hat you drop!

Connect on a deeper level with your ideal customer.

If you’re anything like me, it took you a hot minute to perfect your ideal client.  Now that I know who they are and everything about them, I want all of my content to connect with her!  Each post, story, or ad is created to solve a problem they have or educate them on some level.  As your ideal customer gets to know, like, and trust you, they’ll invest in you! Not just financially but as a person as well! These connections, found through your social media, fuel you and your business! It’s cool to have thousands of followers, but it’s even better to have a community that’s connecting with you on multiple levels! Remember, friends, go deep with your followers rather than wide!

Up-to-date portfolio

I know that you have worked so hard to curate your website portfolio. It’s beautiful, and it’s everything you want it to be. The problem is your followers probably aren’t visiting your website every day.  Don’t worry! There’s good news!  Your social media serves as your portfolio, AND when you’re present on social media, you get to update it as much as you want!  Even better, as you update your portfolio, your ideal client gets to follow along and fall in love with you and your work.

Educate your customer

Not only does your social media serve as your most viewed portfolio, but this is a beautiful space to educate your ideal customer!  Not sure what they need to know. No worries! A perfect place to start is to think about the questions you are most often asked regarding your business. You can answer these questions using reels, static posts, or even in your stories.

Network with other businesses

No lie, I love my Insta family! Over the years, my community has grown, and now is a group of supportive business owners who want the best for each other! Using social media to network is a great way to grow your community. Use the community you’ve built to collaborate with one another, refer when you aren’t available, and as a help center when you aren’t sure about a problem! While you may never meet these fantastic humans in person, you can still support each other!

Out of sight, out of mind

We all have a lot going on, like a lot, and sometimes, we forget to show up for a day or two. You may even post a static post, but don’t show up and stories. However it happens, one rule always applies. Out of sight, out of mind. If you aren’t present on your social media, you probably aren’t present in the mind of someone who’s looking for a photographer. Showing up consistently reminds your followers that you’re there to show up for them!

I know social media is a lot. There’s always something changing; who knows what the algorithm is doing, and it requires some prep work if you want to remain consistent! Friends, that’s what I’m here for! Leave it to me if you don’t have the time or energy for your social media! Want to learn more? Click the link below to discuss how I can best help!
