Favorites of 2017
2017 is coming to a close. I am always hopeful that the New Year will bring new opportunities, and experiences. I have compiled a list of my favorites of 2017 to share with you. These people are just a few of the artists who have helped me over the year, simply by creating work, content, art, and music that have helped me grow.
ARTISTS + INFLUENCERS
Heather Day: I ran across her on Instagram, and just love her use of color and movement in her work.
Hollie Chastain: I listened to her podcast with the Jealous Curator and fell in love with her collage work. I just received her book If You Can Cut, You Can Collage: From Paper Scraps to Works of Art for Christmas and hope to get some good tips for elevating my work.
Jasmine Star: I have watched her webinars, followed her on social media to get tips on how to build and grow my business. She is a wedding photographer, but also marketing guru. She has been one of my go-to influencers in 2017 for wedding photography tips, marketing help, and business growth. I recommend her Creative Live lessons to any photographer trying to navigate the marketing waters.
Sophia Amoruso: I watched Nasty Gal on Netflix and instantly intrigued by Sophia's story. The show is loosely based on her start. While Netflix canceled the show her blog GirlBoss became one of my inbox favorites. The blog touches on everything from self-care to business tips.
PODCASTS + MUSIC
Art for Your Ear: The Jealous Curator has become my weekly listen. I love her interviews with working artists. It is great to hear stories of peoples journey through life and the art world. Especially stories from artists who are parents.
Sylvan Esso : Their lyrics and sound are what amazing and genius sound like as they crash together. They put on an epic live show.
Oh Wonder : Their videos are so gorgeous and well designed. The Graphic Designer in me squees with joy.
Tash Sultana : She is a one-woman army of musical dominance.
Blog, Inc.: Blogging for Passion, Profit, and to Create Community - by Joy Deangdeelert Cho and Meg Mateo Ilasco
Busy Phillips : Insta Story queen.
teeteeheehee : Illustrator, embroidery artist, and lifestyle
hawkeyehuey : A 7-year-old photographer who has mad skills and a beautiful perspective
I hope some of these inspirational people will inspire you too!
