Fresh 48 vs. Newborn Session
Understanding the differences between a Fresh 48 and a Newborn Session
One of the questions I am asked most often by expectant mothers is, “What is the difference between a Fresh 48 and a Newborn Session?” What is the difference, and do we sign up for one or both? There are several differences between the two. Just know that whichever you pick will have beautiful moments captured of you and the newest addition to your family!
Fresh 48 - A Fresh 48 session is in the name. It is a session that is done within the first 48 hours of your newborn's life. This is most often done at the location of the birth. This could be at the hospital, at the birthing center, or even at your home. These special newborn details capture the real moments within the first 48 hours of life. The first feedings, the first diapers, and those first precious snuggles. All of these moments are captured before they begin to change right before your eyes.
A Newborn Session - While the Fresh 48 is done within the first 48 hours of life, a Newborn Session can be done months after your baby is born. My Newborn Sessions are typically done in your home and are designed to capture your newborn in their own environment. There aren’t any props used, posing is kept to a minimum, and I use natural light to capture those precious, candid moments in the comfort of your own home.
While there are many differences between the two sessions, it is totally up to you and your family to decide which session you’d like to have. Individually, so many beautiful moments will be captured. If you choose both, you not only have beautiful moments, but you’ll be able to see the changes that have already taken place.
Please know whichever you choose, there isn’t a wrong answer!
