Booking Your Maternity Session

Understanding when to book and why.

First and foremost, congratulations!  First or fifth, fertility treatments or not expected or unexpected. You are planning a maternity session for an upcoming addition to your family, which is huge!  So congratulations, and let’s get your session planned! When planning your maternity session, there are three things to remember.

First Choice of Dates

While I don’t suggest calling me before the stick dries, I suggest (especially you fall mommas) calling me earlier in your pregnancy.  When you contact me earlier on, you have a larger selection of dates in months that you’re still in your pregnancy glow without feeling completely miserable. Plan for your session to be in months 7 or 8 of your pregnancy.  If you are expecting multiples or have a high-risk pregnancy, I do suggest moving your shoot date up by at least a month.

Planning Ahead

Another plus of booking your session earlier rather than later is it allows you to plan ahead.  You have more time to order your dress, get it in, try it on, and send them back for round two if you don’t like it. If you are bringing older siblings along, this is also a great time to prep them for your session.  This is also a great time to schedule a hair and nail appointment!  I suggest a few weeks for hair and a few days for nails.

Payment Plan

Scheduling ahead of time also allows you to create a budget for your session or get on my payment plan if needed.  These sessions are investments, and having the opportunity to plan ahead is helpful to many families…especially when you factor in hospital stays, newborn care,  or the cost of college.

This is such an exciting time for you and your family!

While there are many things to plan during these nine months, I want to make sure planning your maternity session is one of the easier items on your to-do list!
