A Spring, Island Lake Recreation Wedding

Lindsay + Brian

I was honored to document Lindsay and Brian’s enchanting park wedding at Island Park Recreation in Brighton, Michigan. It was an intimate ceremony, attended only by the couple's closest friends and family. Capturing the joy was my goal that day.

One of the most unique aspects of this wedding was the handfast ceremony. In case you're unfamiliar, a handfast ceremony is an ancient tradition where the couple's hands are tied with ribbons or cords, symbolizing their commitment and union. It's a beautiful and meaningful gesture that adds significance to the wedding day.

As a documentary wedding photographer, I capture moments as they naturally unfold. Capturing candid family memories and emotions with minimal interference or interruption to the flow of the day. It's all about blending into the background and becoming a semi-silent observer (let’s be honest), allowing the couple and their loved ones to be themselves.

Being a part of such a special day is truly an honor as Lindsay and Brian’s photographer. I captured the tender moments between the couple, the tears of joy in their parents' eyes, and the laughter shared among friends. Each photograph tells a story; together, they weave a beautiful love, unity, and celebration.

Weddings like these remind me why I chose to become a photographer. Being able to freeze time and document such heartfelt moments is a gift I am grateful for daily. It's incredible to play a small role in creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

If you're planning your special day, I encourage you to find a photographer who understands the power of those authentic moments. Because when it comes to preserving memories, there's nothing quite like a photograph.
