It is so easy to stress out about how you think your child "should" act during our photo session. Let me tell you no two children are the same and I of all people understand that they can be unpredictable with a wide range of emotions. I am prepared for it all.
I generally plan for the first 15 to 30 minutes for us to get comfortable with each other and photographing them while still holding their attention. If I get more then that I am happy. I will instruct you to be with your child and I will document your interaction with some gentle posing. Then I like to let them run wild and be active so that I can capture them as they are now.
It is so important to prep your children for the session. Let them know a friend is going to be taking photos. Make it a special occasion, and try not to bribe them, but offer them a fun family activity for afterward.
TIPS FOR YOUR SESSION:
- Bring a dry snack and some water
- Put your little one down for a nap or quiet time before the session.
- Prepare them for a friend to photograph them.
- Relax and have fun!!
One of the best parts of having children is being able to act like a big kid ourselves, share our own experiences with our little ones and create new ones with them.
In the end, it is most important to relax and enjoy our session.
