FAQ

I am so excited to document your family!

Thank you for inquiring

As a fellow parent, I am so excited about this chapter in your life. It is beautiful and chaotic. I am glad you reached out to a friend to document all the special moments for you.

Below, you will find prep for each type of session: Family, Maternity, and Newborn. These blogs and FAQs will help answer any questions in preparation for our session.

Family Session Prep

  • Whether in your home or on-site, I recommend picking a place that resonates with you and your family. If you choose to do another location and need help picking a place, I have a handful of locations that I like to photograph.

  • Family Sessions last up to 90 minutes, but I like to work fast. For the first 15 to 30 minutes, we will focus on posing and guiding, and after that, we can let the little ones run free, and I will snap pictures of you and your family in a more relaxed way, still guiding and posing as we move along.

  • It is essential to let your children know that you have a friend coming to take their pictures. The more they know, the more prepared they are and the more willing to engage with me they will be. Let them nap or have quiet time beforehand. Have a dry snack and water handy. Make this a special family fun event. Relax, and have fun.

  • You will find throughout the course of our session I will remind you and your family to not look at me but at each other. An easy way to illustrate your family’s love is through touch. I will pose and guide you throughout your session. I will encourage you to kiss affectionately, hold hands, or hug.

  • What is most important to me is that you feel like this accurately represents you and your family.

  • We will start with the posed images and move into a candid shooting style with less guidance and posing. I expect to hold your little ones' attention for about 15 - 30 minutes, and then we will let them lead the session. I will shadow them and interact with you as a family.

  • I will deliver a gallery with a slideshow. I recommend making a big deal of it for your little ones. They love it, and seeing themselves represented is a big deal.

You will have 30 hand-edited digital downloads and a $75 dollar print credit to use on prints and photo gift items.

Maternity + Newborn Prep

  • After I have taken a moment to chat and introduce myself, If we are photographing at your home I will take a moment to scout your home for the best-lit areas for photographing in. Frequently, we use the couch, primary bedroom, and nursery for photos. If we are on location I will meet you at our prediscussed location.

  • Welcome to the club! Parenthood is messy, beautiful, and chaotic, with these blissful moments in between. I am there to capture it all. It is not about looking perfect but about documenting this beautiful season of life authentically and honestly.

  • My approach to photographing newborns embraces the beauty of natural, baby-led moments. No baskets, no major posing—just genuine, heartwarming captures. To enhance the session, dress your baby in a neutral onesie, free from wording or graphics. Feel free to prepare your favorite swaddles”

  • When we had our second son, it was apparent how excited Bug was to have a new addition to the family. I will try and get the sibling photos first because I know how quickly the other little ones may lose interest in me. I always recommend preparing your older children so that a friend will come over and take pictures of them and the family.
